a. Discuss Rey Chows definition of the sentimental and give some examples of it in at least two of the films that we have watched so far this semester.
b. Discuss and compare the ways in which Devils on the Doorstep and The Handmaiden deal with the question of Japanese empire. How do they represent the Japanese occupiers? How do they deal with questions of victimization and complicity among the occupied?
